Here is our (opinionated) Christmas Reading List. This is certainly not comprehensive and it is not comprised solely of Hamptons authors and/or settings, but we think you will enjoy it. Please let me know if I have missed any or your favorites. I will be happy to add them. I know I missed many of mine!

One of my main criteria when deciding if I will ever return to a vacation destination is the presence of a great bookstore. After all, you need a place to learn about the local history, food, art, and culture of the area, as well as grab a couple of trashy local gossip books to take to the beach with you.
Maybe you want to find the perfect book for a snuggle-down with lots of pillows, wrapped in your duvet, in front of the fireplace in your vacation suite. A glass of local wine, a cup of our seasonal hot cider, or a cup of THCO drinking chocolate, completes my concept of heaven!

This thanksgiving, let us also give thanks to the Great American Writers who were drawn to the East End of Long Island, not only for the land, the sea, and the sky but also for the abundance of the harvest’s bounty and the camaraderie of other artists and writers.

We often share relevant links in our blogs and newsletter, but for some time we have been considering creating a master list – one-stop shopping, so to speak. OK, so we decided that was not exactly practical – there is just too much! Too many

Shinnecock and Montauket Indians who farmed beans, squash, and corn originally settled the area now known as East Hampton, NY. They also hunted the abundant game and fished the pristine waters. They were especially reliant on the bountiful shellfish — clams, oysters, mussels, and whelk,

Sag Harbor is considered by many to be the “Un-Hamptons” village on the South Fork of Long Island. It lacks the McMansions of East Hampton, Bridgehampton, and Southampton. Instead, it has old whaling captain’s homes with widow walks and old wooden churches with both Egyptian
