Two of my favorite things in life are taking walks and taking photographs. Fortunately, living in East Hampton gives me endless opportunities to do both!
Whatever the season, whatever the weather, there is always something of great (or small) beauty around every corner . . . And, in this day and age, even if you walked out without your camera, chances are that you have your cell phone with you to grab that once in a lifetime trick of light on a distant spire or a flock of Canadian geese invading the Maidstone Club’s expansive lawns.
Being a photographer, my favorite times to walk through East Hampton Village are early in the morning or just at dusk. Transitional light offers so many magical moments! Not to mention the infinite variety of sunrises and sunsets. But don’t be afraid of the midday sun. Play with shadow, and clouds, and reflections in ponds, puddles, or windows.
Walking out from the Mill House Inn and south on Main Street through the village to Main Beach is always inspiring! Maybe the village is shrouded in dense fog, maybe snow, maybe it’s sunny . . . It is always breathtaking.
So grab your camera and walk with me! You might want to wear boots . . .
Maybe next time I will take you through the Lanes to the Duck Pond and Egypt Beach!
Enjoy!
