Are You Hungry? Part Two

‘Are You Hungry’ is our endeavor to be your guide book to dining on the East End. We keep it local, that is the restaurants, the food, and the people are the best in our neighborhood. We are here to salute the very best; you will not find comments that are unfavorable. Life has limited time, why waste it on adverse comments? The way we look at food and how we dine can be attributed to those professional trusted advisors who influenced our dining experiences with their prose. They earned a living by dining and drinking, then passing their experiences along, so we experience the very best and avoid the disappointment associated with a poor restaurant choice.

Long before the internet, diners and chefs shared the same resources. My very first favorite columnist and certainly one I think of often was Jay Jacobs who penned the New York Reviews for Gourmet Magazine from 1972 – 1986. A Glutton for Punishment tells the story of being a dining columnist. I valued his opinions, enjoyed many fantastic meals and learned from dining in the NY restaurants he recommended. The New Yorker paid a fine tribute to Jay in October 2008 at the time of his passing.

We hope to do the same for you, our readers. We will help you find the best restaurants, introduce you to the people who love to cook and showcase the best of their food. You might even be tempted to cook their food in your kitchens – we will be there to help with that as well!
