In the forthcoming series of blog posts, I will attempt to capture the unconventional character of our local eateries and the people that make them work so well. We will also explore the secretly guarded sources where these magicians purvey ingredients, find new cooking methods and have the conversations that keep their food delicious.
Whether these eateries are among the new and notable, or tried and true veterans of the East End, they are certainly all about people. My words will try to capture the essence of what matters and are just the beginning. As our conversations progress, in-depth personal conversations, audio, pictures, and maybe a few videos will add to the journey. Thanks for being a part of the journey.
Iconic restaurants have an intangible culture that defies absolute definition. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of that presence, maybe you are touched by an element of the hospitality that is visual. You will certainly taste the difference, but your restaurant palate must be on the lookout. The very best establishments, their food and the people that make it all happen are humble by nature. They are the chefs, mixologists, artisans, growers and makers who await your visit and are thrilled to make you smile. It’s what they do so well!
And what will you feel? It will certainly be a bit different depending on the who and where of your exploration. So, sit back and relax, pour yourself a cocktail and understand that our journey is a considerable part of the destination.
What follows is a list of our favorite places to eat and drink, a few pages from our Personal Assistants ‘Black Book.’ These are the Bistros, Taverns and Seafood Shacks where you will find us grabbing a snack at the bar. These Restauranteurs, Chefs and their Teams take great care in every aspect of the Hospitality they deliver. Their food, service and ambiance are delicious, genuine, and heart-warming.
As we travel each dining establishment will receive its own page and have all the information you need to dine better. We will let you know everything we know about the best dining on the East End.
BTW . . . this is your trip. This is also ‘your list’ so please let us know about your culinary adventures as you explore the local food culture of the ‘East End.’ Drop me a line and let me know how we are doing. It would be our pleasure to have a conversation about food, wine and cocktails . . .
