Bonne Nuit
55A Main Street, East Hampton NY 631-324-7273
One of a kind, handcrafted, unique and possessing timeless details: these words detail how one might describe Bonne Nuit. More simply, Bonne Nuit is a boutique aspiring to delight every visitor. Pima Cotton, Silk, Cashmere and Fleece women’s sleepwear conjure dreams of an afternoon nap. Why wait until dark to enjoy the luxury? The East Hampton Store showcases the finest in women’s clothing. Their stunning website may lure you to New York City, especially if your dreams wander to the most beautiful children’s wear.
You will find a dedicated staff at this small town store – they will remember what thrilled you when you visited. Don’t be surprised when they send you a personal email just to say hello or to let you know they have a special sale. Either way, be prepared for a magical experience at a true boutique, one where you will wish you were a part of the buyer’s trips.
Check out this article in Hamptons Magazine – it may be from 2014, but it still holds true.
Chaser
75 Main Street, East Hampton NY 631-527-7272
How cool is it that you can have your artwork or that of a friend displayed on clothes that are both vintage and trendsetting. That is Chaser, Los Angeles based, with a touch of Rock & Roll! Seriously though, you can contact Chaser with your art and hope it finds a home on some of the coolest clothes this side of the sixties. Of course, everything about the build is modern and casual, new methods, colors, fabrics. Star Struck? Have a look at Chaser’s Press Pages and you will see the Hollywood A-List out and about wearing Chaser! If you’re not at or near a Chaser store, have a look at their ‘Insta Shop‘ page for a great look at Beach Cool! Seems that it’s always summer on the Chaser Blog! Anyway, it’s always time to get ready for summer and shake a bit of sand out of last year’s beachwear!
Peloton
75 Main Street, East Hampton NY 631-290-6334
Peloton – well you could just buy this one online. After all, it’s the online classes that might begin the attraction. At any given time there are over ten thousand different classes you can choose from daily. Maybe it’s the social aspect of riding with real professionals in your living room. If you’re hooked on design and technology, you might buy one just to have it in your living room.
That is correct – Living Room! The Peloton is a work of art. I suggest that the attraction is a combination of everything, working together in harmony. That was, after all, the Founder’s mandate, to build a perfect at-home workout studio that delivers on your schedule. One that is better than a single live studio involving travel time and someone else’s schedule.
Online classes are beyond just cycling; they include strength training, yoga and running. That being said, it’s really nice to have the touch and feel of a real store with a great staff to answer all your questions.
Intermix
87 Main Street, East Hampton NY 11937 631-907-8025
Intermix may be owned by the GAP, but it is the furthest thing from a formula-driven women’s fashion brand. You will not find their designs to be the same in each of their thirty-eight boutique stores scattered about North America.
For the past twenty-five years, they have been curating fashion design differently for each neighborhood where an Intermix Boutique is located. Their merchandise selections showcase new, emerging and established designers. You are always invited to make an appointment with a personal stylist so they can build an Intermix fashion statement that says it’s all about YOU! On the Intermix website, they answer the all-important question “How We Style.” You will see into the minds of the buyers and why they select distinct styles. So I guess Intermix is the Boutique that is unconventional. You trust the brand when you shop in different locations with the distinct understanding that what you see will be unique and refreshing.
The Shops at LVIS
95 Main Street, East Hampton NY 631-324-1370
I wrote about LVIS, the Ladies Village Improvement Society, last summer.
In 2020, LVIS will celebrate their 125th anniversary . . . Since the very first day, these hometown heroes have been devoted to their village and its residents. As well as preserving historic landmarks, maintaining ponds, parks, greens, and trees, and concerning themselves with the charitable and educational welfare of the village, they hold fairs, book sales, run a thrift shop, and a bookstore. Need I say, they only get better with age!
A bit about The Shops at LVIS, since shopping is what we are exploring here. Their newly renovated, bright and cheerful shops offer the best selection of ‘gently used’ men’s and women’s clothing, second-hand books, housewares and furniture on the East End. Constant donations to their stores provide a steady influx of merchandise so it is worthwhile to check their racks and shelves often. Who knows who donated your special find?
Revenue from The Shops provides major funding for the many LVIS projects.
And please be sure to visit the LVIS Bookstore, to browse the East End’s largest selection of second-hand books, including many first editions and collectibles.
- Bring the kids to enjoy the sun-filled Children’s Corner.
- Sylvia has spent many hours browsing the Art and Photography books, and the ‘Local’ section – looking for fodder for her next Reading List.
- I am particularly enthralled by their cookbook collection – including their very own cookbooks compiled over the years.
You might just find a recipe (and a story) in the latest edition by yours truly!
SHAN
3 North Main Street, East Hampton NY 11937
Chantal Levesque loves to travel, specifically in warm climates with beach resorts. For thirty-three years she has looked at your vacation as the reason to design swimwear and complete resort wear collections. In an interview with Purist Online, Chantel spoke about her inspirations – the Hollywood stars that inspired her style. She spoke of the ‘50s and ‘60s, Marilyn Monroe, Ursula Andress and James Dean. And the more modern influences of Madonna, George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
Timeless and unique are a genuine description of ‘Why SHAN?’ Because it makes you feel exceptional, distinctive and still fashionable a few years from now. You know that fifty years from now SHAN designs will still be ultra-fashionable!
Chantel and designer Marie Saint Pierre have collaborated on a new line of swimwear that sounds just perfect for lunch at The Clam Bar. And East Hampton’s Main Beach looks even better wearing SHAN!
All this talk of summer . . . Wouldn’t you rather be here? At any time of year!
