“Approachable, Reliable & Nostalgic but Forward-Thinking’
Determining what constitutes a great eating establishment is much like choosing a favorite in any creative endeavor. Food and beverage are much like music, film or literature. Being the best is all about having an in-depth understanding of the classics and ultimately great respect for attention to detail.
“This endeavor would be based on an unrelenting commitment to doing things well, measured against the highest standards and manifested in careful attention to the smallest details. Early menus alluded to this philosophy on the cover, with a list of “the little things that make our quality unique” The Hillstone Group
This is absolutely one of the most generous compliments presented to a restauranteur and hospitality group that I have witnessed:“Ralph Lauren is to American fashion – approachable, reliable and nostalgic but forward-thinking – what George Biel and the Hillstone Group are to American restaurants.” Andrew Knowlton
Hospitality
Every trip to East Hampton Grill begins with the kind of welcome you receive when visiting an old friend you have traveled long and far to see. Friendly smiles, names remembered, cocktail preferences observed, dining companions inquired about if they are not currently in your party. I love it when various members of the restaurant team visit our table just to say hello. Service just like the caring and concern of being at my grandmother’s house for a holiday dinner, every day. Oh, by the way, my grandmother owned a bar & grill – the kind you went to every day because it was simply that good. And the food at EH Grill… more on that later.
History
A bit of history about 99 North Main Street. In 1999, new to living at MHI, Sylvia and I found that Della Femina’s was the closest place to cozy up to the bar and have a delicious dinner after a long day of innkeeping. It quickly became a regular! We were sad when Jerry called it a day and sold his restaurant, wondering what would follow those caricatures on the walls and Michael Rozzi’s excellent food.
Soon enough we met the restauranteurs who would be our new neighbors, and George and Robert became regulars at MHI. With that our excitement grew as we learned more about the soon to open East Hampton Grill.
- FOOD that reflects excellence on a continued basis
- FOOD that never lets you down
- FOOD that always makes you smile
- Really good simple classic eats, the kind everyone knows about or the stuff you turn into a classic because you care about FOOD!
I will not tell you what to eat at EH Grill; the menu is small, well-curated and a classic endeavor in every way. If it catches your eye – order it, order one for the table, maybe two! You will be happy.
So please join us in a Mill House Inn tradition; upon leaving the Inn turn left on North Main Street and continue for two-tenths of a mile, about five minutes. Since 2011 we have taken that walk often. There is always room for a few more hungry souls! We will be at a table by the bar. Stop by and say hello or join us for a cocktail?
