The Delicious Difference
"Carolyn's Kitchen" Chef Jeremy
What I am thinking about this week...
The Montauk St. Patricks Parade is today!
Spring is in the air in the Hamptons. Perfect weather for a picnic on Main Beach, sipping wine in the MHI Rose Garden (or on your suite patio) and a walk up to the Montauk Lighthouse.
You may have noticed the staff with some crumbs on their shirts and a bigger smile on their face then usual. That’s because we made them the official taste testers of our new ‘nacks! Hands down the “family favorite” is the Amber Waves Wheat Whipped Short Bread Cookies with Pantigo Farm Beach Plum Jelly. “I can’t believe how they just melt in your mouth!” I hope you can make it out to East Hampton this week and try one for yourself!
At the 'nack & coffee bar
- Amber Waves Whipped Shortbread with Pantigo Farm Beach Plum Jelly
- Rueben Canapés on Montauk Beer Bread
- Hamptons Honey Baklava
- Irish Cheddar & Chive Scones
from the farms & markets
asparagus | beets | broccoli | cabbage | escarole & radicchio | garlic
chard, collards, kale & mustard greens | leeks | mushrooms | onion | peas
new potatoes | radishes | rhubarb | turnips
What's special on my breakfast menu this week:
Deathwish Coffee Smoked Iacono Chicken Hash, Kale and Sweet Potatoes
We took advantage of the gorgeous weather this weekend to pull out the smoker and left many neighbors wondering about the smoky, mouthwatering aroma drifting through the MHI Rose Garden. Our Deathwish Coffee Rubbed Smoked Chickens are the star of this week’s breakfast special!
Guess who knocked on my kitchen door this week… Chef Jeremy
As a close-knit group of farmers, food artisans, chefs and fishermen, East Hampton brings the food scene to the next level. I met Chef Jeremy Blutstein of East by Northeast, this past summer at a fundraiser for the Peconic Land Trust at Quail Hill Farm. In sharing the love of real food, locally sourced produce and the culinary field, we became friends.
I am ecstatic to be able to tell you East by Northeast, reopened in Montauk this weekend premiering their spring menu. The sun sets over Fort Pond each evening delighting the diners of ENE and the only thing amazing enough to distract you from the view is Chef Jeremy’s new spring menu.
In a recent discussion Chef Jeremy, he gave me a sneak peak at the spring menu and I can’t wait to head to Montauk to experience it first hand. I hope you can join me. Being part of our MHI Family, you too have the privilege to hear about some of his mouthwatering new menu:
"Local Tilefish | Romesco Negro | Thumbalina Carrots | Radish | Beet Powder"
"Allen Brothers NY Strip | Marrow | Red Watercrest | Gremolata"
Remarkable Food Moments "comments from our guests"
"Really how does your chef have the time make make ALL of these snacks?"
"I could make a meal out of this drinking chocolate alone!!"
"I really have an appreciation for food, I am so glad to see that you all do as well."
"The Hemingway coffee is my favorite. We are going to Key West soon.
I will have to look for the shop."
"We have heard nothing but greatness from all of our friends about your breakfast."
